DIRECTIONS TO STAR HILL:

  1. From Baton Rouge, take 110 North to US 61 Natchez/North (Exit 8B).

  2. Take 61 North (this hwy. will take you all the way to St. Francisville).

  3. After you cross over Thompson Creek into West Feliciana Parish, the Riddle Cemetery will be the first LEFT (La 964) and Star Hill Cemetery is a RIGHT TURN onto La 966, approx. 3 miles north of Thompson Creek bridge.

  4. Turn RIGHT on La 966.

  5. After you turn right on La 966, Star Hill Cemetery is on the left-hand side of the road.

  6. Our family's plots are on the left hand side of the cemetery (click on images below to enlarge).

WHO IS BURIED HERE: There are a lot of people buried here, but in our family there's:

    John Willy Lapeze, Jr.
    born 29-May 1912
    died 18-May 1994

    Bertha Walton Lapeze
    born 19-Aug. 1915
    died 31-Aug. 1991

    FYI: Pappaw was born in Delombre, which is just north of Port Hudson. SEE MAP. Port Hudson is historically significant because it is the site of a major Civil War battle http://www.cr.nps.gov/nr/twhp/wwwlps/lessons/71hudson/71hudson.htm. Pappaw used to go over to the the old battle site when he was a kid and collect Civil War bullets.



  2. Napoleon Bonaparte Riddle III, DDS and his wife, Kathleen Hastings Riddle. This NB is Pappaw's uncle (Nana's brother). Click here to view a photo of him with his mother, Mary Ann Brannon Riddle, and his brothers and sisters.

    FYI: There is a stained glass window in memory of NB Riddle III at the United Methodist Church on Royal St. in the Historic District of St. Francisville. SEE MAP.
