"Now
picking RHUBARB"?!?!
We
drove 40 mins. to Murphy Orchards thinking that we were going to
pick something yummy like strawberries. Instead, we got to pick
rhubarb. Ugh! We picked this farm because of its history. The
McClew family that owned the farm in the 1860s was part of the
Underground Railroad and worked to give safe passage to Canada to
runaway slaves. All in all, the trip to the farm was a success.
It was an added bonus that we got to see the actual secret room
in the barn where the escaped slaves stayed hidden from
detection.
